Absence.....

Sorry I've been gone all week. Ethan was unwell, truly unwell. A flu took out most of his class.
And now I have it. So I could be another week yet!

Happy Families...

We've been harbouring a storm here lately. My son Ethan, as you know, is well and truly in to his second year. I am starting to believe they shouldn't give the ages of children numbers, but that they should label the year instead, to remind you of what you're in for. I'd label this year the 'Year of Defiance and Self-Determination'. It's so strange that the behaviour that Ethan is presenting is so challenging, yet, to be honest, if he were a teen I'd be ecstatic at his level of independence!

Ethan is an adorable, wonderful little boy. He is incredibly confident, self-assured and aware of his surroundings, he's gentle with his sister, and social with his friends. He is also a tyrannical child, who is bossy, demanding, emotional and high maintainance. We often find we don't know which way the winds blowing with him, and it's just a constant battle of wills some days!

That's why I haven't blogged much these past couple of weeks. In the sleepy house of the newborn, we've also been tackling a 2 yr old that wakes up at 5am, has no gears in his energy levels, just a go and a stop button, and who is dealing with the new arrival of a little sister who I'm sure (to him), seems like she takes up all of mum and dad's time. So we're on the battlefront, trying to both set boundaries and also to nurture and love him as he is, and that's why I'm a bit absent. Hope you can forgive me, this might endure a while longer...!

Sorry but absent...

I'm a bit blank today, hence no post until 6pm. It's been a long one, first with rising at 4.30am with Ethan who had a morning full of so much energy it started super early. From there I've babysat for a few hours for a friend, and then after that had another friend visit with her three daughters. So at 37weeks, with only about 5 hours of broken sleep under my belt, I am too tired to function. Ethan and his dad have gone to get chips from the shop to compliment the 'out of the box' kievs we're having for dinner, and I'm sitting here wondering what to tell the cyber world....

I am tired. I could rant and rave today about the injustices of the little world I live in, but luckily for your ears I'm even too tired for that!

Tell you all about them another time.....

The FIFO Life-O

Wow it's been a long morning...
After being home for a month, my partner went and flew back to work today. We've had a pretty long month, his grandmother passed away three weeks ago, and then just as we were readying him to return to work after the funeral he needed to go 'for a quick trip to the dentist'. He needed root canal work! So that meant another week off work, which bought him to another rostered week off.
So today our son is really feeling the pinch. After a whole 30 days with his dad, this morning he saw him off at the airport and knows that it will be another 'long time' before we see him again. It's hard on them both, because they miss eachother terribly.
But also I am tired, which is why I'm going to cut this short and go to bed.
Hope you are all enjoying your day and have your loved ones in your heart, if not in your home.

I am soooo tired.

I can't stay awake. Well, I can. I just would prefer to sleep, especially for a couple hours during the afternoon.

Yep, congratulations ladies and gentlemen, we are pregnant. With number two. Oh lordy, how much I forgot about our first trimester and the tiredness of it all...I'm not really feeling sick, unless nerves count, but I am craving, just as before, sausages, hamburgers and ham. It's terrible. I am trying very hard not to be tempted at all though. And trying to cut back on coffee. But who in god's name can cut back on coffee and work a 10hr day with four kids under two years old?!!!!

zzzzzzzzzzz anyone care to wake me in week 12?

The family don't know, only a couple of girlfriends, the significant other, and our doctor. And the planning in my head has already begun. If its a boy, we won't need to buy anything at all aside from nappies and cross the fingers my boobies work as well this time as they did the first, because then we won't need formula. If it's a girl, we won't really need to buy anything either, because I've plenty of friends' with girls who are lining up to give their stuff away to someone who did the same for them when they had thier little ones.

So that's my news, and my excuse, as to why I've been so absent of late. Please take it easy on me, and rub my back while I have a little rest.....
